FireSak is a Fire resistant bag designed to store lithium batteries. The FireSak was made with the goal of providing one extra layer between your possessions and a potentially harmful battery in the event of a critical battery failure.
Unfortunately the inherent design of lithium batteries makes them a risk. They depend on a soluble middle layer that separates the anode from the cathode. Leaving lithium batteries a low voltage, charging them in extreme heat or cold, high discharge during use, these are all things that can create dendrites. Dendrites are essentially little needles that pierce the separation layer which can lead to unstable batteries, and ultimately, failure.
FireSak utilizes three layers of certified fire-resistant materials using kevlar reinforced threads that are double stitched for extreme durability and strength. The FireSak also comes in extremely large sizes compared to bags for laptops that you might see elsewhere on the internet.
Another thing that makes our bags unique is the fact that our iterations are designed based off of our own battery failure tests. We charged extremely large batteries to failure inside our early iterations of the FireSak. The design was improved with each ieration of the FireSak until we landed on the product we’re sharing today.
Our mission is to create high-quality fire-resistant storage solutions. It started with us trying to find anything that could help us store batteries. Products on the market felt uninspired, we felt like there had to be something else. So we got to work and made our own, working with as many suppliers as we could to get the best materials we can, thought out and tested designs. There is no real perfect or ‘total’ solution to lithium fires, but we’re proud of what we came up with. Our goal is to share the FireSak with anyone else trying their best to reduce the damage fires can cause.
